The edge that will be pushed or pulled against the stop on the press. |
| Guide: |
The sides of an uncut press sheet. A 3/8" margin is standard. |

Always indicate grain direction, even if it looks obvious. |
| Capacity Pocket Folders: |
Pocket folders that have a “box bottom” to allow for extra storage in the pocket. |

Folding and Gluing Recommendations:
- “Capacity Pocket Folders” are a great solution for the project that needs a little extra depth in the pockets.
- Main final fold works best with the grain. However, greater strength can be achieved with a score made perpendicular to the grain.
- Letter press creasing (matrix or hot scoring) finishes a job with the best quality.
- Pocket folders with less than 1/4" gutter between scores on spine cannot be final folded by machine.
- We have both hot and cold glue. We will work to use the one best suited for your job to minimize adhesive bleed through.
- If you have ink, varnish, or any other coating where glue is to be applied, please call for technical advice.
- Let us know of any special requirements for the glued project, such as cold storage, etc.
- Coated jobs with black ink tend to show glue lines. We will work to use the best glue application.
- Some coated stocks and high coverage sheets may show a “bleed through” from water based adhesives, hand assembly may be necessary.
- When converting with automatic equipment, the glue tab should be on the body of the folder, rather than on the pocket end.
- All jobs must be clearly marked for the gripper and side guide.
- Ink knockouts for tabs if needed.
- Specify any special packing requirements.
